Strange Science Fantasy

I love Strange Science Fantasy!! I was SO inspired by the Strange Science Fantasy #3 cover by Scott Morse, that I had to paint my one myself.

The Mandroid character I invented myself. His head's a fishbowl with a brain in it!
Why not, right?

Spiderman and his amazing Friends!!

Well here it is!

Finally finished.
As I mentioned in my previous post, this was my favourite Saturday Morning Event when I was a child. (It still would be if it were still on the air.)

All I had before this were the Filmation Spiderman's which I watched religously, but let's face it, the animation was a bit static and repetitive. There was also the Hanna-Barbera adventure cartoons, using the Toth model for all the characters, and I loved that stuff, but this...

This was different.

This was more of a Romita model for the characters!! It felt like a moving comic. It existed in the marvel universe which meant there were guest stars often. It was even the first appearance of an animated X-Men!! And best of all, every episode was narrated by Stan Lee himself!!!

I loved this cartoon and would obsess on every detail!
I also developed a new respect for Spidey. What a good sport. Every time an emergency would come up, his friends would just transform in a fraction of a second and leave him tripping over his trousers in an alley somewhere, trying to get into costume. But he never complained. What a guy!

Anyway, this thought inspired me to paint Bobby taunting him (who else, right?), while he and Angelica fly off leaving him in that alley once again.

(don't worry, he'll catch up)
